Don't ever let anyone tell you that athletes don't know how to cook, because Monday at FCA we proved that wrong. We had quite the spread for our special Fall FCA Huddle!
After dinner and fellowship we split the room into 3 different families for an intense game of family fued (WVU-FCA edition). There were lots of laughs and some pretty hilarious survey question answers.
20 Seconds of Insane Courage (Teresa):
Everything can change in a matter of seconds.
Sometimes all it takes is 20 seconds of insane courage to change a life, to take a stand for Christ, or make a difference in the life of one of your teammates. But being courageous (even if just for 20 seconds) can feel impossible.
There's no doubt the Christian life can be difficult. There are moments that test our faith, and times when we are required to take a bold step outside of our comfort zone. At times like these it can be easier to back down, and make excuses.
Jesus calls us to something more than a life of comfort inside our own bubbles, He calls us to be courageous and take steps of boldness and faith for His name!
The call to live like Jesus is a tough call, but we can draw strength from the fact that Jesus was not afraid to be courageous on our behalf. Jesus did the most courageous thing anyone could ever do, He gave His life for us on the Cross. Jesus willingly went to the cross, fully aware of the pain and suffering that awaited Him, but He believed we were worth it!
Jesus took a courageous step but that step changed the course of human history and changes our lives on a daily basis. What could happen if we decided to take a courageous step for Jesus today? How could we impact someones life?
There's no telling what God could do with just 20 seconds of insane courage! So what courageous step is God asking you to take today? Maybe it's encouraging a teammate or praying for someone in need, or even starting a Bible study! I don't know what God is asking of you today but ask Him for the courage to take that step out of your comfort zone and into the great adventure He has for you!
Scriptures to Read:
Joshua 1:9, Deuteronomy 31:6, Philippians 3:14, Proverbs 28:1, Isaiah 40:28-31
After our Lesson our leaders and members of the WVU-FCA staff decided to take a step out of their comfort zone and shared their cardboard testimonies with the group. On the front of a piece of cardboard they wrote who they were before Christ and on the back they wrote who they are now through/because of Christ. It was an incredibly powerful example of how 20 seconds of insane courage can open up doors for God to move in hearts!
We are teaching devotionals/topics from the national FCA theme of RISE and adapting them to the WVU-FCA group! To see the original devotionals as well as other awesome FCA content head on over to http://fcaresources.com/reading-plan/rise-devotional-competitors
